From
Hong Kong Shihan (Master)
Kin San Ng was born in the chinese
year of the dragon. He is a Seventh Degree
Black Belt in Okinawan Karate and Kobudo (Okinawan
Weaponry).
Shihan Ng was a Triple Crown Champion
(forms-weapons-sparring) for three years from
1987-1989. He has won numerous martial arts
championships throughout his competitive career.
Master Ng was known in the martial arts community
as the Dragon of Shorin-Ryu Karate.
He has also competed successfully in Jissen
Kumite (bare knuckle full contact fighting,
no pads). Shihan Ng has over 30 years experience
in the martial arts. He began his training
at the age of ten in the okinawan style of
Matsubayashi Shorin-Ryu Karate. In 1986
Shihan Kin San Ng established the first Shorin-Ryu
Karate school in Brooklyn, NY. This Juku (private
academy) was known as the Newkirk Ave dojo
(karate school). Shihan Ng is also an accomplished
practitioner of Iaido (Japanese Swordsmanship).
Shihan Ng is also the founder
of Okinawa Karate and Kobudo Juku. This is
a organization dedicated to preserving and
promoting Traditional Okinawan Karate and
Kobudo. In addition to his NY dojo, Shihan
Ng established karate clubs at Stony Brook
University and at Brooklyn Health & Racquet
Club. Master Ng presently teaches Karate,
Kobudo, Iaido, and Women's Self Defense in
Colonia, NJ. His school Person To Person Karate
is the first and only Matsubayashi Shorin-Ryu
dojo in New Jersey.
In 1980 Shihan Ng witnessed
the legendary kobudo skills of Shorin-Ryu
Master Tadashi Yamashita (Kobayashi-Ryu).
Shihan Ng had a strong interest in the Kusarigama
(Rope Kama -aka- Tethered Kama or flying sickle).
Most authorities consider rope kama to be
kobudo's most advanced & most
dangerous weapon, due to the use
of live blades. Master
Yamashita is famous for his skill with this
exotic weapon. Shihan Ng was inspired
and amazed by Master Yamashita's rope kama
technique. Thus Shihan Ng began his training
in the art of the flying sickle. The
rope kama eventually became Shihan Ng's signature
weapon in tournament competition and demonstrations.
Shihan Ng is one of only seven masters in
the world who is an expert of the rope kama.
